Jerry Zimmerman Historical Archives Fund
In December, we lost our beloved friend, Gerald “Jerry” Zimmerman. Jerry served as the Wisconsin State Fair historian for more than 20 years and collaborated on the book, “150 Years of the Wisconsin State Fair, an Illustrated History 1851-2001.” When he wasn’t at the Fair Park, he was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, retired employee of Mandel Co. and retired WWII Navy veteran.
In Jerry’s long life of 92 wonderful years, he only missed three Fairs (due to serving in the war and in 2020 when the fair was cancelled for the first time in 75 years). There was no bigger fan of the Wisconsin State Fair than Jerry, and he will be deeply missed by the Wisconsin State Fair family and entire West Allis community.
We are grateful that his memory can live on through the Wisconsin State Fair historical archives that he loved so much. Please consider a memorial gift to the Jerry Zimmerman Historical Archives Fund of the Wisconsin State Fair Park Foundation. All funds will be directed to an enhanced historical exhibit at the Fair Park in Jerry’s honor.
HELPing the wisconsin state fair grow!
The Wisconsin State Fair Park Foundation, established in 1995, is a 501c3 nonprofit that is committed to providing a superior experience for all visitors through public and private partnerships; year-round art, ag and education programs; and the continual enhancements of the Fair Park. Our donors know that the State Fair is where families create traditions and memories that last a lifetime. It is a place where urban meets rural and thousands of visitors learn something new. It is a place to celebrate the agricultural bounty of Wisconsin. This is the magic of the State Fair – past, present and future.
